This seems like such a gimmicky product which is exactly why I wanted to buy it and test it out. I haven't heard or seen much about this product which is exactly what made me want to review it. Let's see if it is a makeup lover's staple or just a flop.
This product was one of my IMATS New York purchases. I was very intrigued when one of the guys at the booth was telling me about it and I had to have it to test it out for myself. This product is like a rough plastic sponge. This product is meant for someone that is doing their or someone else's makeup and needs to use a brush that was already used and dirty. The point is to rub the brush on this sponge like material and the roughness will pull the powder out of the brush essentially making it clean so you can use it to apply another color. I have taken some pictures as I have tested this out so you can see how it works.
I have tested this with two different types of brushes: a flat shading brush and a fluffy blending brush. Both are from different price points and are not of the same quality. I also chose to use clean brushes with white bristles so you can better see how much of the product gets taken off by the Color Switch. I used a Bdellium Tools #773 brush and a Sigma Blending E25. The eye shadow used was the Makeup Geek Bada Bing eye shadow which is a very dark brown almost black color. Lets see how it does!

As you can see the Color Switch did not completely clean the brush. Obviously most people won't be using that much of a dark color. I did this just to test out the product and used a color I knew would be easily seen. I do have to note that this brush did shed in the Color Switch. When I rubbed the brush on my hand a tiny bit of the dark color came off the brush but not much. If you used a lighter color in the Color Switch it would not really be able to be seen. This is just something to keep in mind. This color also had some glitter in it which did not stay on the brush.

Again, the color switch was unable to completely clean this brush. Very little to no color comes off when I swirl the brush on my hand. No shimmer is left on this brush either. This brush is much fluffier than the last brush so it didn't hold as much product but I did load them both up pretty generously with product. I think this would definitely be usable with another color and the previous color wouldn't transfer. None of these bristles shed in the Color Switch.
So, we have found out that the Color Switch does NOT completely rid the brushes of product. If it did, we would not see the color still on the brush. The denser the brush, the more product it will hold and the better the chances are of having leftover color that will transfer after using the Color Switch. A fluffier brush will hold less product but it will be more dispersed throughout the brush which will make it harder to get the product out using the Color Switch. If you are using this as an everyday product just to switch between similar colors, this may work really well for you. If you like to do dramatic looks that include lots of drama and color, then this probably be the product for you.
This product has two versions and the one I have is the Solo. It retails for $16.99.
