- Wash your face twice a day (morning and night) and right after sweating. Sweat can make acne worse because of the toxins. After you work out be sure to wash that crap off your skin.
- Use your fingers to apply a gentle cleanser. Wash cloths, sponges, and abrasive cleansers can irritate and strip the skin. Don't use harsh skin care products that will irritate the skin. Harsh products can sensitize the skin and make acne worse.
- Rinse with lukewarm water.
- Shampoo regularly. If you have oily hair, make sure to wash every day or keep it away from your face. That oil could transfer to the skin and cause acne.
- Let your skin heal on its own. If you pick at your breakouts it can spread the bacteria and cause more acne. Picking will guarantee that blemish will hang around for longer and it could possibly cause scarring.
- Don't touch your face! Do you know how many things you touch during the day? Touching your face will transfer all the bacteria from your hands on to your face which can, as we know, cause acne.
- Stay out of the sun and tanning beds! Tanning beds and the sun won't dry out your acne! Tanning beds are 75% more powerful than the sun and every time you use one, your chances of getting melanoma doubles. Tanning in general is bad for you skin and over time it can cause a lot of damage.
