These products are not pictured above because they are long gone. These lipsticks are some of the very first products I purchased from MAC six years ago. I did end up using most of the product but they were old and I made the decision to just Back To MAC them. When I was still a newbie in the beauty community, I had no idea what was what where high end beauty products were concerned. I only knew what I heard people talking about, which happened to be MAC. Almost everyone mentioned either one or both of these lipsticks as their all time favorites from MAC. Not knowing any better I just went out and bought them assuming that I would love them just as much as everyone else did. Well I was wrong. I didn't find either of them very flattering on me and I didn't like the finishes so I always wore them with a gloss. Hue would only show up on me if I wore a very light lip liner underneath it and I just didn't like the shade of pink that Angel was. If you are interested in a lipstick color go and try it on before you buy or ask a professional what they would recommend for your specific hair, eye, and skin tone.
NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer in Light 1 Chantilly
This product was severely hyped up but I didn't buy into it. I watched a ton of reviews from Youtubers that I trusted and didn't hear a single bad thing about it. I also read reviews on Sephora's website and ended up with the same result. Almost no negative reviews. After reading what the product was meant for I decided that this would work very well for me. Man, was I wrong. The color is a great match for me and I really like that the formula is great for under the eyes and for spot concealing blemishes. It covered blemishes flawlessly. It took almost no product and no effort at all to conceal them. This concealer looked really great when it's first applied. That is not my issue. My problem with this product is with how it looks throughout the day. This concealer skins into lines that didn't even know that I had. It just starts to look worse and worse as the day goes on. My work shifts are six hours and even half way through my concealer looks terrible. I'm very disappointed that this product didn't work for me.
Benefit Boi-ing Concealer in 01
My story with this product is very similar to my story with the NARS concealer. I didn't see any bad reviews on this product. I needed a concealer specifically for blemishes. Other concealers would slide right off pimples and would move around my face. This product has no problem staying where you put it. The texture is perfect for concealing on the face. My problem with it is that it's so thick it ends up looking cakey on the skin. No matter how little you use and even when you set it with powder it just doesn't look good.
Bare Minerals Matte Foundation
I have had a Bare Minerals foundation before but it was so long ago don't exactly remember my experience with it. I do remember that I finished it and that it was too dark for me. I got this in a kit that was an amazing value that I could not pass up. It came with three different brushes and now that I finally understand how to use it, I figured this would be my favorite product. I love what the brand stands for and my oily skin loves powders. The problem is I can't get this product to work for me. I've tried every brush the kit came with as well as a few of my own. I have tried it with primer and without primer. I have tried doing a little at a time and building it up. I've tried applying a lot at once. Nothing I do helps. I always end up with the same result, no coverage and a face that looks like it's covered in powder. Not a good look my friends, not a good look.
YSL Rouge Volupte in #7 Lingerie Pink
I'm pretty sure that I acquired this lipstick because this was in the box of the lipstick I actually wanted. Why didn't I return it you ask? I have no fricken clue. I was looking into buying this lipstick before I got it anyway. I love the formula, pigmentation, and the scent of this product. My only issue is the color. It has so much white in it that it just doesn't look good on me. The only way I can really wear it is if I put a warmer and peachier gloss on top.
MAC Emphasize
Since I have such fair skin it is very hard for me to find anything even slightly lighter to help brighten my under eye area. I stumbled across this product and thought it would be perfect. It had a bit of a sheen to it and it reminded me of the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powders just lighter. This just looks way too thick and cakey under my eyes. I don't even use much and it just looks terrible. I have no idea what I am going to do with this since I have barely made a dent in it.
LUSH Lip Service Lip Balm
A Lush employee gave me and my friend some of this balm to try out in store and we both fell in love with it. The texture felt so rich and moisturizing. It literally melted into our lips and felt so good on. I decided to purchase one and I am so unhappy with it. Since this lip balm is in a tin you have to use your fingers to get the product out. This product is so thick, I feel like I have to swirl my finger around just to melt the product enough to get some on my lips. It takes absolutely forever. I honestly just don't like that it takes so much effort to apply this. I hate dipping my finger into tins because I find it unsanitary. Maybe this would be better in a tube but the tin just isn't working for me.
Gerard Cosmetics Lip Glosses
These lip glosses are pricy. These are the most expensive lip glosses I own. I heard so much hype about these I picked them up out of sheer curiosity. The two shades I have are Butter Cream and Pink Tiara. Butter Cream is the shade that Jaclyn Hill made and I love her so I obviously wanted to support her. These lip glosses are not good. I don't like them. I hate the lemon scent, the formula is pretty thick and very sticky which makes it pretty uncomfortable to wear on the lips. I do like that they are so pigmented. It's super clever that there's a mirror on the side and lights in the lids but I honestly don't think it's necessary. These lip glosses are not what everyone says they are and I wouldn't recommend them.
Too Faced Melted Liquified Long Wear Lipstick in Melted Marshmallow
Please don't hate me for this! I actually kind of hate me for it! Too Faced is one of my favorite brands and I did not expect to not like this. I swatched this color in store and fell in love with it. I was between this shade and Melted Peony. I'm so sad that I don't like this product! I feel like the color just looks so unnatural on me and the formula slips around my face. I will continue to work with this product and hopefully I can figure out how to make it work because I do love this brand so much. This is the only shade I have tried so I don't know if any of the other shades would be any different. I'm really hoping that one day I wake up and just love with product.
